Se considera enteógenos a aquellas sustancias vegetales y animales que permiten conectar con "entheos", es decir, con la divinidad interior, con el "origen divino" ( entheo + genesis) . Es la misma raíz griega de la palabra teología , Zeus ( teus, deus), entusiasmo ( en theos , "el que vive en lo divino". 

Entre las medicinas naturales que encontramos en esta familia están la ayahuasca, el peyote, los hongos, el yopo, el iboga, san pedro, bufo alvarius, etc.. Otras sustancias como la salvia divinorum que es un "onirógeno" o el éxtasis (MDMA) que es un "entactógeno" no entran dentro de esta categoría.

No entran dentro de esta categoría los "alucinógenos" como la datura o el floripondio. 

El término enteógeno ha tenido un gran éxito que le ha dado una categoría de honor y de rigor a estas medicinas que han demostrado ampliamente ya su potencial sanador, psicoterapéutico y evolutivo. 

Este término surgió para relegar a la palabra psicodélico que estaba llena de las connotaciones lúdicas de las revoluciones de finales de los sesenta y principios de los setenta y darle un rigor científico aunque en su origen etimológico la palabra tuviera un significado muy profundo y bello: psicodélico (manifestación de lo que estaba oculto). 

Por otra parte los enteógenos no son drogas pues lejos de evadirte de la realidad te acercan a ella y además no producen ningún tipo de tolerancia física, abstinencia o adicción; (ayahuasca, bufo alvarius, yopo, iboga, san pedro) son utilizados para profundizar y desactivar desde el origen los mecanismos y programas que interfieren con nuestra libertad y paz interior llevándonos a una auto-exploración y redescubrimiento de nuestro verdadero Ser a través del Amor.

WHAT IS AN ENTHEOGEN?

"Hallucinogens" such as datura or floripondio do not fall into this category.

The term entheogen has had great success that has given a category of honor and rigor to these medicines that have already widely demonstrated their healing, psychotherapeutic and evolutionary potential.

This term arose to relegate the word psychedelic that was full of the playful connotations of the revolutions of the late sixties and early seventies and give it a scientific rigor although in its etymological origin the word had a very deep and beautiful meaning: psychedelic (manifestation of what was hidden).

On the other hand, entheogens are not drugs because far from escaping from reality they bring you closer to it and also do not produce any type of physical tolerance, withdrawal or addiction; (ayahuasca, bufo alvarius, yopo, iboga, san pedro) are used to deepen and deactivate from the origin the mechanisms and programs that interfere with our freedom and inner peace, leading us to a self-exploration and rediscovery of our true Being through Love .
